Bloom color clusters of lavender flowers looking like pompoms atop open-branched stems
Bloom time
July - September
Height 2-4’ tall and 2-3’ wide
Growth habit spreading roots, clump forming, easy to grow
Light sun to part sun
Soil medium moisture in a variety of soils
Uses color and contrast for the herb garden, wild garden, native plant garden, meadow, open woods, or naturalized area
Attracts butterflies, hummingbirds, and birds, good nectar source
Other This showy perennial, a pleasantly scented member of the mint family, has fragrant flowers and leaves. Needs some air circulation to prevent powdery mildew. It is heat tolerant, deer resistant, and a nectar source. Plant with Liatris spicata (Dense Blazing Star), Rudbeckia fulgida (perennial Black-eyed Susan), Echinacea purpurea (Purple Coneflower).  Divide by root division when plant is big enough.
