Nature Daze
Saturday, September 10, 2011

Whether you own 1 acre or 500 acres, or if managing your land has ever made you dazed and confused, come out and join us for an enlightening day at Bill and Becky Freeman’s beautiful property in Brown County. Resource professionals will be on hand to present information on integrated vegetation management, total pond management, getting back to the basics of invasive plant control, and learning about native plants. Plus there will be afternoon activities.
Nature Daze is an outreach of the Brown County Native Woodlands Project in an effort to help landowners better understand the importance of managing their property to create resilient native habitat that is free of invasive plants.
The 2011 event was a huge success! Session topics included:
- Integrated Vegetation Management
- Total Pond Management
- Back to the Basics: Calendar of Control
- Native Plants: Why Native and Where to use
- Back to the Basics: Invasive ID Stations
- Butterflies, Birds, Amphibians Walk & Talk
- Family Creek Stomp
For the kids:
- Be A Tree: Participants will understand the structure and function of tree parts. They will physically become a tree part and then construct a paper bag vest resembling all the parts of a tree.
- Name that Tree: Participants will learn how to ID trees by their bark and leaves and learn facts about those trees.
- Walk in the Woods: Participants will get to explore nature using 5 of their senses (sight, smell, taste, touch, hearing). This is an interactive hike.
- Plant Scavenger Hunt: Participants will explore the area identifying plants and learning about each one.
Thanks for attending! See you next year!
