Tree-of-Heaven (Ailanthus Verticillium Wilt)

PDF Print E-mail

Sometimes it seems that controlling non-native invasive species is all disappointing with new invasive plants or animals arriving all the time. Here is a glimmer of hope when it come to Tree-of-Heaven (Ailanthus). Ailanthus is invading the Brown County Hills. It is not terribly widespread, but on the increase. The link below has some positive information on a possible native bio-control in the form of a verticillium fungus.  If you notice any clumps of tree-of-heaven showing wilting of the leaves,  yellowing of the inner bark or pronounced die off, please contact the Brown County Native Woodlands Project through our website at www.bcnwp.org.
