Major Accomplishments & Ongoing Projects
- Survey properties at no cost to landowners who wish to learn how to identify and control invasive plants.
- Native seedling trees and shrubs given to landowners at spring plant sales in Brown County.
- Published non-native invasive plant guide to Brown County.
- Conduct local educational workshops, including:
- Invasive plant identification
- Winter tree identification
- Effects of woody invasives in forest habitats
- Completed non-native invasive plant road map of Brown County that includes our four targeted species: Japanese knotweed, Asian bush honeysuckle, autumn olive, and tree of heaven.
- Japanese knotweed control on private land, through a grant with the South Central REMC.
- Recognize outstanding landowners for their contribution to reducing native species in the county.
- Educate public through multiple articles published in local newspapers, newsletters, and state publications.
- Nature Daze - annual field day dedicated to conservation.
