Major Accomplishments & Ongoing Projects

  • Survey properties at no cost to landowners who wish to learn how to identify and control invasive plants.
  • Native seedling trees and shrubs given to landowners at spring plant sales in Brown County.
  • Published non-native invasive plant guide to Brown County.
  • Conduct local educational workshops, including:
    • Invasive plant identification
    • Winter tree identification
    • Effects of woody invasives in forest habitats
  • Completed non-native invasive plant road map of Brown County that includes our four targeted species:  Japanese knotweed, Asian bush honeysuckle, autumn olive, and tree of heaven.
  • Japanese knotweed control on private land, through a grant with the South Central REMC.
  • Recognize outstanding landowners for their contribution to reducing native species in the county.
  • Educate public through multiple articles published in local newspapers, newsletters, and state publications.
  • Nature Daze - annual field day dedicated to conservation.
